Use a wet dry shop vac to vacuum up the toy. Most likely the toy is stuck in the S curve of the toilet, and not farther down the drain. Use a long, narrow attachment like an edging attachment, and if you can make contact with the toy, it will cling to the hose end. If you can "feel" it with the hose, but it won't budge, open up a wire hanger and make a hook. Use the hook to try and loosen the toy, then try the shop vac again.

Get a wire clothes hanger bend it so that it is straight then bend one end just a tad .Now shut the water off at the valve behind the toilet.if the toilet is bowl is full of water, get and old container and dip out as much of the water as possible. Now take the hanger and put the bent end down the toilet, you might be able to hook the toy and pull it out.If that doesn't work you could try using a wet & dry shop vac.it'd have to have a lot of Amps to pull the toy out if it is lodged in there tight. Get the Grandson to help with this, maybe he won't do it again! Good luck!

There is a good chance that the toy is in the toilet. Undo the screws that hold it on the floor ** first turn off the water, tha en flush the toilet again, then undo the screws, tip the toilet over carefully as not to break the back from the bottom, (unless you disconnect them) and it is probably in the windy part of the toilet that is where my husband found a toy once.

If the toy is stuck in the stool, I would first turn off the water, flush to empty stool, then take the stool up from the floor. Chances are, you'll be able to grab it from that end if you didn't have luck from above.
Yes, I've been there. Good luck.

See if you can grab it with your hands and if that doesn't help you might be able to go to the store and buy a snake, it helps and no it not a real one just what the plumber call it. Those are they only things I can think of.

You can buy an inexpensive hand auger at any Lowe's or Home Depot. This tool will snake through the pipes and grab the toy.
