Oh boy do I know the feeling! My son, now 23 months had terrible constipation...and he was breastfed!
Warm baths, diluted prune juice, stop all the binders that she is eating (bananas is one). Give her fruit, blueberries (they are quick!), Kiwi, melon...etc.... Apple juice works wonders!
What you DON'T want to do is trick her body all the time by using artificial things (like Kayro)...her body can actually learn how to only poop when given this. SO instead you need to change her diet, and "teach" her body to poop with good foods.
My son is on Benefiber 2x a day. I mix it in with his oj in the morning and with his milk at night. He gets 1/4tsp of it...this was the "prescription" that out Gastrointologist gave us from Children's Hospital in Boston... So I take it as a pretty good suggestion!
Good Luck!!

I have used the dark Kayro surup before. Try juice. Juice has sugars in it and a little bit of juice for your child at this age is ok~ If it will help them. I found jucie to help my son out because he would have a hard time passing stools! Maybe warm up the juice. You could try warm water also! When substances are warm, this can help flush the colon!

i have a 9 month old that gets constipated often too. what i do is give her some apple juice (4-5 ounces) along with some prunes baby food. that clears her right up. oatmeal also helps, you could mix oatmeal and prunes that helps too. usually when i give that to my daughter she is pooping within 24 hours. you can also try glycerin suppositories, ive never used them but a pharmacist and a nurse told me to use that if prunes and apple juice didnt work. you can find them at almost any drug store, just ask a pharmacist, they can help you find it. my doctor told me not to use any kind of baby laxatives because they may become dependent on it. another good idea is to give your baby some apple juice (undiluted) every day to help keep her regulated. if none of this works you may want to see a doctor to make sure there isnt a more serious problem.

Prunes is best, and a lot of water. In severe problems a little parafin oil (sold at the pharmacy for this reason) will not hurt, but she must not take it often, because she gets used to it and then it gets worse. Also there are some baby suppositories or baby enemas, which are very small, like liquid suppositories. Ask your doctor or farmacist. These must be used exceptionally, only in emergencies.

Sometimes its because their stools are too hard. Try sitting baby in a bath of water and baking soda. This will help baby push out the stool and make her more confortable. Also try boiling some water with anise seeds. Strain the seeds, add a little sugar and cool down for baby to drink. Or try apple juice - sugars usually help baby's digestive system. And call your doctor - it won't hurt! Maybe they'll prescribe drops that can be added to juice.

Prune Juice did the trick for my baby. But only give a little diluted with some water. Two Onces of juice to 4 onces of water or you will have an explosion on your hands.
Grape juice works really good too.

Give her some of the apple and prune juice from gerber. That'll do the trick, it'll take a couple of hours, but it'll take care of it. Also she might be eating too many dairy products, that get's you constipated, or if you're breastfeeding, you might be eating too much of it and passing it to her, if she doesn't go for more than a day and a half, take her to her pediatrician or emergency room, it's very dangerous for her to go that long without going and ask them if there's anything you can do to help her not to get so constipated.

This happened to my son many years ago. The doctors were useless. My mother finally said to give him an olive oil enema using an infant enema bulb syringe and with the oil slightly warmed. He had had colic chronically since birth and we did this at 6 months and it solved the problem. Ask your pediatrician first though. He's 30 now so obviously it didn't harm him any.

If you're sick of everyone telling you prune juice and Karo syrup then try Benefiber. It's gentle on their stomach. Make sure you put it in the food that is constipating and not in their drinks. It doesn't work well that way. You can find it near the Metamucil at Wal-Mart.

If you give the baby a four ounce bottle of apple or prune juice this will usually give the child a BM within two hours.
