Watch their face and look them in the eyes, do they look away? Just watch them as they tell the lie and ask a couple questions and see how they reply. If they are lieing they will dig a hole for themselves.

apparently they touch their face when talking. try to listen to the details of the story and then ask questions (eg. we went to see a film- what film was it? what happened?) but not in a spanish inquisition way. if they are making up details then you will be able to tell if you know the person well enough.

Watch their eyes. Most people can not look someone in the eye and lie to them.

you can actually tell when you ask them a question and they pretend they didn't hear it the first time around and say "what" as you repeat yourself that buys them time to come up with a lie

They cannot make eye contact. They act really nervous and can't look you in the face.
