Because pot came from the "tree of knowledge" and God forbade us from eating from the tree of knowledge. If everybody smoked pot there would be no crimes. We do need to legalize marijuana and only marijuana products (hash is good, too). It can be taxed just like cigarettes. Can you imagine going into a store and asking for a pack of Maui Wowee!!? or Acapulco Gold? The country would no longer be in deficit!! We would be rolling in cash!! The richest country in the world again. But there are too many ignorant people in the world. And most of them would prefer to be at war with another person about what they think is wrong or what is right in their eyes. It's just like how people interpret the Bible. There are so many different interpretations of the Bible no one knows what is real and what is just imagination.

Perhaps knowing why wacky tabacci became illegal will help...
William Randolph Hearst owned newspapers, and he had a vested interest in lumber operations and papermills that made paper from wood pulp. A process of making a better paper, cheaper, was found with hemp. Hearst went on a campaign to outlaw hemp, but if he called it hemp people would reject the idea of outlawing it. So they used the name marijuana, which was a name most americans didn't associate with hemp, and it was outlawed.
There is a lot of money to be had by many institutions and industries by keeping wacky tabacci illegal, the wood pulp paper industry is only one of them. Bottom line, it's a money thang..

They will not legalize it because it would take away too many dollars for schools, the government, and police forces. The police use monies and vehicles seized in operations to further programs like DARE. Some monies go to school for educational purposes. Also, the amount of money tied up in illegal activity would then become tax dollars. It's all to do with the money; just like everything else in this great country!

they are afraid that people will find out that smokin the wacky tabacci isnt as bad as they all say it is, and smokin regular tabacco (which should be called wacky tabacci) is just as bad because its addicting.

i have recommended legalization of the noble herb because the 60's. The booze market hates competition do not you recognize. look how a lot money will be kept through no longer jailing people for weed. Marijuana replaced into legal or a minimum of no longer spoke of untill Hearst began his campaign to criminalize it in the 20's.

Because it is a gateway drug that can lead to other, more hard drugs... I don't think you need a reason as to why hard drugs are illegal, because they destroy lives and cause people to commit other, more serious crimes...
If you talk to almost any hard drug user, the first drug they ever used was either pot or alcohol (which gives reason as to why alcohol should be made illegal, but c'mon, like that will ever happen). No heroin user ever starts out using heroin.

for the simple fact that if they did, their acts of crime for these people would go away and they wouldn't have anything to do. it's like they feel that this is the most hanous thing a person could do rather than rape, murder, chemical drugs, etc.
