Well just end it at this okay since all of you think its dumb, if it is so stupid than why come on here and waste your time answering it huh?

The ocean covers 64,186,000 square miles

And there are 328 million gallons of water, esimated in the ocean.

Got this from NEPTUNE'S WEB - Ocean Trivia; Earth - The Water Planet

There are no stupid answers or stupid questions. The only thing stupid is the person who criticizes others for being curious.

328 million gallons is a gross under estimate. If your estimate of suface area of 68 million square miles is correct.... and thre is 5280 feet in a mile... and 7.48 gallons (US liquid measurement)per cubic foot... that would mean there is 208.5 MILLION gallons of water in 1 square mile of ocean that was only 1 foot deep.

A cubic mile of water contains 1,101,040,680,960 gallons of water... so IF the estimate of 68 million square miles of ocean is correct, and the ocean were and AVERAGE of 1 mile deep (and I assure you its deeper) then there would be 74 million of TRILLIONs of gallons of water in the ocean... to spell that out ... 74,870,766,310,000,000,000 gallons of water in a body of water 68 million square miles in area and 1 mile deep... again.. this is if the estimates give were correct.

However the given estimates are not correct... the ocean covers approximately 140 million square miles and has an average depth of 12,220 feet. which is just over 2 miles... so the actual calculation should look like this.... 5,280 x 5,280 x 12,220 x 140,000,000 x 7.48 giving you a whopping 356,753,863,100,000,000,000 gallons of water contained in the worlds oceans... APPROXIMATELY

... I had better get a best answer for this....

there could be unknownamount of water in the ocean.people drink water and it also rains in our planet so we dont now how much water is added to the ocean and since people take water aWAY FROM IT we do not know how water our skin sucks when we are in the sea or ocean for a amount of time it depends on the type of skin.so i guess your answer is unknown.plus.you said it is only an estimate.it also could be infinite

No one can possibly know the answer to that question. That's like asking how many blades of grass are in the world. Be reasonable when asking questions in here. You don't need to challenge others with impossible questions.

There are 7 oceans, and none of them has a definite amount of water in them. It is a dynamic system.
