buy a USB hub, A device that increases the number of USB ports on a PC, typically providing at least four Type A sockets for expansion. However, since the hub plugs into one of the USB ports on the computer, the total number of additional ports is minus one. USB hubs are often used to extend ports to the top of the desk to make it more convenient to connect and remove external peripherals.
Self Vs. Bus Powered
Self-powered hubs derive their power from a wall outlet and provide up to 500 milliamps at each port. Bus-powered hubs obtain their power from the USB bus and deliver only up to 100 milliamps at each port. Sometimes, self-powered hubs can be used in bus-powered mode, but all of the ports may not be available. For example, a four-port, self-powered hub that is not plugged into an AC outlet may deliver 100 milliamps to only two ports. See USB switch and USB.
