When Mickey Mantle cleared the left-center-field bleachers at Clark Griffith Stadium in Washington on April 17, 1953, the entire baseball world was lead to believe the ball had traveled 565 feet from home plate to the point where it landed. In truth, that figure derived from the distance from home plate to the place where a neighborhood child retrieved the ball. Since this home run was the only one that ever cleared those bleachers during decades of major league and ***** League competition, it is genuinely deserving of recognition.

Mickey Mantle's 565 ft shot is generally considered the longest home run of all time; however, I believe there is a story (which may or may not be true) that Babe Ruth hit a homer in 1935 (as a member of the Braves) that traveled 620 feet. Sounds more like a myth than a fact, however.

If you count minor league action, I believe Joey Meyer has the longest recored home run. On June 2, 1987, Joey Meyer of the Denver Zephyrs launched a 582-foot homer that ricocheted off of seat 9 in row 3 of section 338 in the upper deck of the east stands in Mile High Stadium, the longest home run in Denver history.

Mantle hit one 734 feet people say. But i think u subtract a 100 feet and leave it 634 which is still the longest. Right there is Mark with 545.

Reggie Jackson had one that hit the lights while still going up. I wonder how far that one would have went. I think it was at Tiger Stadium.

I believe that Mark McGwire beat Mickey Mantles gargantuan slam. So I guess its up to you to decide between them, whether or not McGwire deserves an * above his shot or not.
