and because the company is moving they asked me to wait for another month (July 3rd). So far the job offer is verbal only and no contract had been signed. We have been communicating via email regarding my start date status. My question and concern is, is this company seriously considering to hire me or are they just delaying the process in hope that I'll give up and quit myself? Has any of you guys have a similar dilemma and how should I handle this? I had stop looking for other jobs since I accepted the offer. The job pays 24,000 month (I know it's very small amount) and the job duty involves business correspondence etc.

I've been waiting since May 22.

I've received an email today saying that they are swamped with the moving process and an apology for keep delaying me but they have some other stuff that they needed to take care of first. Also they talked to the Manager that I still need to come in on July 3 and not earlier because they need to settle down the first week after they move to figure out things.

Thanks for answer my question guys and I have received a confirmation that my job is legit via email like on May 24, day after they offered me the job(Is this legal or creditable enough?). I have a feeling they are serious about the job offered but currently they are busy with the moving process as dianes98 said. I already waited for months might as well wait 2 more weeks.

Lesson learned: Don't stop looking for jobs =*(

Could be a number of reasons -
You state that it is a small company, this could mean that they need someone in your new position, but maybe they are waiting until after they close Q2 so the cost of an additional headcount doesn't hit their financials. Even if they are not a public company they want their P&L (financial record of profits and losses) to look as good as possible to secure financing or investors.
It can also be the extra cost savings in getting your work area set up and then having to pack it up and move. Professional moves are quite costly.

You should talk to the hiring manager and tell him/her your concern and that you would like the offer in writing or else you will have to keep your options open. If they are serious they can give you a written offer. If they don't want to, you should seriously consider keeping your resumes going out and/or posted on job sites. You can also keep your resume posted and if something better does come along you can make the decision at that time.

I have been in the same spot as you with the job that I have now. I was offered the job in Oct. of '04, I did not actullay get hired on until April of '05. I was offered the job by one of the partners and then he had to tell the other partners, it took months before they had a meeting and then made a decision. In the midst of waiting for the job I kept my other job and then just left when it was time to start the new one. Sorry that you have to deal with this, b/c I know it sucks waiting and trying to figure out if you have it or not. Hang in there, it sounds like they really want you or they would not keep you in touch about things.

How can an email from the company confirm they are legit. Check with BBB. Something just doesnt sound right with this situation. Most companies make a job offer in writing that you both sign.

I would follow up with the complany at least once a week. But be sure to interview at other companies since it seems your job offer may be tentative. Your really do need something in writing. If you get another offer, you can use it as leverage..and tell them you need a written contract then. Good luck.

how long have you been waiting so far? You should ask them for a commitment letter, or offer letter. other wise you have no real security.
