I believe in equality

I believe that men and women should be treated the same, yes.

And on the question of why some people don't...
It is a natural thing for there to be gender differences, all animals have different roles for the males and females. In some cases the female gets more power and in others the man.

In prehistoric human society it would be the men who hunted for food as men are phisically built with more muscles for this task, and women would look after children and gather food.

It is also important to note that although evolution gave men braun, women were given brain, in the UK at least, the exam results show year after year that females achieve better and it is true that women find it easier to learn.

But since we live in a modern society where these gender roles are not necessary since we have farming men and women do not need to be treated differently. And although you may think there is equality now, not fully: how many parents share the task of caring for children and working equally?

I don't think any two men or any two women are equal, much less attempt to declare any given woman equal to any given man. There are biological differences, psycological differences, etc.

Case in point. My daughter's high school has very liberal teachers, who have gone beyond the average staff attempting to involve girls in the maths, sciences, and other "traditional" male pursuits. Sure enough, many of the high achievers in those areas are female. During an awards presentation, each student indicated what their long term career ambitions were. Of the thirty female students who received a math or science award, twenty-five chose teaching as their first choice. Three chose a "technical" careers. Of the twenty-three males, twenty chose Engineering or other tech based career. One chose teaching.

I'm not putting down teaching as a profession, but it is not the higest paid. And if females select that profession significantly more often than males, then the average income of a female of the same skills will be far lower. And if that same proportion holds true nationally, many of the economic disparities women complain about is because females as a population do not pursue the highly paid careers in the same quantities. Why do they do that. At my daughter's school, it was not through lack of educational preparation or encouragement. The only factor was their gender.

People seem to think that because women have children they are emotional balls of maternal goo.

I hate this, men and women are equal, equality isn't a gender issue it is a human issue.
As a woman i feel people presume i want children, that i am a mass of PMT and chocolate and that one day i will want to be a house wife..... It isn't the 1950's.

The thing is men are also parents, they have paternal instinct, so they are no different from women in some ways.

People can't accept it because most people like having power over others, and there are many issues where it is easy for some to pull "rank" gender, age, race and money.

Its all stupid!

The problem is that under the equality of women and men a lot of people mean that the woman has to give up her priorities (like being let forward entering or leaving a room) and so become equal with men but men give up nothing to become equal with women. Why is it so?

Some men would still believe that women should be in the kitchen etc, and some women believe they are better than some men. I believe in equality, but that may just be because I'm a girl and sexism is usually directed at males thinking they are stronger etc. than females.

Yes I believe in equality. I think some people don't believe in it because boys can do more sports and stuff like that, and there "supposed" to be stronger and stuff like that. But, women have just the same rights as men and we are all equal under God.

both men and women should be treated equally. however, this often (unfortunately) depends on where you live. i happen to live right in hte middle of the bible belt where many men, even younger men, still hold on to the antiquated notion that women are meant to be cook, clean and give birth. things are slowly starting to turn around, but it is an uphill battle most of the time. not everyone believes men and women are equal because different people have different values.

The Bible says that men and women are equal. Even though men cannot multi-task, understand anyone else or be tactful. Women are proven to be cleverer than men whilst men have 90% of their chromosones the same as dogs. Equality is good but obvisously hard.

Men and women are different, SOME (men and women) people assume that this difference makes one sex better than the other. things are not equal, a woman still does not get paid as much as men when doing the same job, certain areas of employment and education are restricted based on sex, but this works both ways. when people talk of inequality they automatically talk of how women are getting the raw end of the deal, and there are a lot of areas where women are discriminated against and its **** but there are also areas where men are getting the raw end of the deal, men will get a longer sentance for domestic abuse than women, sexual harassment at work etc.

I do believe in equality, some men think that women r weak and they r not as physically strong as they r which is SO not true but yes equality is something i believe in and will continue to believe in as long as i live.
