Cobb was the most hated man in baseball and made Bonds look like a chump. Bonds is just cocky. Cobb was an animal. he fought with umpires, fans, players and managers. He sharpened his spikes and used to basically do drop kicks into other players instead of sliding into the base. Go check out the movie Cobb.

I agree with the Chairman guy:
Most fans including this one will tell you Barry Bonds is a dirty cheat and should be barred from joining the likes of Gehrig, Robinson, Koufax, Berra, and the Babe.
I would guess that most old time players would say Ty Cobb...filing your spikes and sliding into base is a bit sick.

Ty Cobb was hated by most ball players. He would file his spikes into daggers so that when he would steal a base the opposing player would be more worried about being stabbed by Cobb's spikes than make the play.
Barry Bonds is an arrogant, cheating, self centered fool but at least he only hurts himself.

Either Barry Bonds, or Pete Rose. LONG LONG ago, it was Shoeless Joe Jackson and the rest of the players involved in the Black Sox Scandal where they threw the W.S. Even though they still can't prove that Shoeless Joe actually ever did anything to throw the series (He batted well over .300)

Ty Cobb was so hated that when he died in 1961, only a handful of people, mostly family, turned up for his funeral. John McGraw, of a slightly earlier era, was hated nearly as much in his day for his dirty tricks (some rules were changed to outlaw his deeds). Stan Williams was just plain mean and threw beanballs regularly, some claimed out of spite. He was absolutely vindictive, and would wait months to get revenge on a player. (Bill Hands of the Cubs liked to throw at batters too, as I recall.) Billy Martin was not nearly as bad, but once beat up a pitcher on the mound (Jim Brewer, I believe) so badly that a civil suit was brought, and Martin had to pay $100,000 in damages, big money in 1959. Ted Williams was a pussycat by comparison. He was rude to fans at times, but did apologize to them later (see his autobiography, "My Turn at Bat"); Williams was not a big socializer, so was often regarded as aloof. However, he was only really hated by Boston sportswriters. Barry Bonds isn't even in that league, despite his attitude and his steroid use (which, remember, was legal until recently). As for A-Rod, everyone hates a mercenary, but he is neither mean nor vicious. (Even meanness doesn't necessarily translate into hatred from fans or players: Bob Gibson is universally acknowledged as being mean - on the mound - but never vindictive or malicious, and when he hit Tommie Agee in the head with a pitch during spring training in 1968 it was regarded as an accident, even by Agee.) Pete Rose was disliked, with some justification, because he was an aggressive player, and Ray Fosse was not the only one who got hurt when getting in Rose's way. Dishonorable mention to Juan Marichal, who hit Johnny Roseboro in the head with a bat in 1965, this act probably costing the Giants the pennant as Marichal's suspension cost him two starts.

Sammy Sosa, just as much a cheat only with a God Complex. I have never liked him. I have to give Bonds props though for his early career he should have retired long before now, I remember seeing him play the Cubs when he was still a Pirate. It is sad to see a great player tarnished because of ego....I have a pic on myspace that says "Ruth did it on Hot Dogs and Beer" I so have to agree

In recent memory, Barry Bonds, Albert Belle, and Bobby Bonilla because of their egos. Some people might argue Raphael Palmeiro or Mark McGwire because their alleged steroid use betrays the fans.
