I'm 11 weeks pregnant, but I don't feel like I am! Is it normal to have no sickness whatsoever? I've had the swollen breasts and constant trips to the toliet, but I still don't FEEL pregnant. I have my first midwife appointment on 28th June (will be 13 weeks). Will a scan be done at this time?

Well lucky you!!!! No need to show off!!! Just kidding... some women are lucky enough to experience no morning sickness and you are one of the lucky ones.

Generally a dating scan is performed around 12 weeks, depending on your NHS hospital, a nuchal scan is also carried out at the same time, where they measure the fluid around the baby's spine in the neck, this can help to determine the risk of down syndrome and spina bifida. Not all hospitals carry the nuchal scan though.

A second scan is generally carried out at 20 weeks and this is called the anomoly scan, where the sonographer is looking at the baby's internal organs for any kind of abnormalities, its generally at this scan that you can ask for the sex of the baby if you want to know.

Good luck in the rest of your pregancy.

Don't complain...good lord. Do you know how lucky you are to not have morning sickness? LOL I didn't have morning sickness with either of my babies, and I'm thankful. I understand it's not too pleasant.

I was the same way...I kept waiting to feel pregnant. It will happen. When your baby starts to move, or you hear his heartbeat for the first time, it'll happen. :)

13 weeks is a little ealry for an ultrasound unless your midwife thinks it's necessary. Most routine ultrasounds are done (in the united states) somewhere after 19 weeks. By then, the brain, organs, bones, etc. are developed enough that the ultrasound tech can get a good look at them and measure them properly.

If you live in the UK, then now most counties offer a scan at 12 (or there abouts) to test your risk for Downs Syndrome, this should also confirm your dates buy measuring your baby and plotting it against "averages". It is relatively normal not to have sickness, and lucky you might I say, all 3 of mine I have suffered with! The peeing thing should start to slow down a bit now anyway, so that'll be nice for you. If you have any major queries make sure you call the midwife at your doc's and arrange to get in sooner if you feel the need. Remember, this is your pregnancy, don't let them bully you, read all all you can from books and mags, get on top of whats on in the pregnancy world!
Enjoy sugar. You're in for a great ride!
Good luck x

I am not sure about the scan thing or not but i can tell you that it is definantly possible to go right through you're pregnancy without having a day of stomach sickness! When i had my first child i didn't have know i was pregnant as far as morning sickness goes, the most discomfort i felt with tender breast and a lot of heartburn! With my second child i had just one morning of stomach sickness that was almost into my 3rd month and that's how i knew i was pregnant! So not everyone gets stomach sick you may go through your entire pregnancy without getting sick at all, i actually felt better when i was pregnant then i do now, i guess it was all the happiness and excitement of being a mom! Good luck!!!!!!!!

It's not UNCOMMON to have no morning sickness. Some women don't and some only have a queasy feeling or upset stomach in the place of morning sickness. I wouldn't worry about not having sickness... just relax and enjoy it. Most health care providers will not do an ultrasound until approximately 20 weeks unless the due date is sketchy. That way, they can tell more about the baby (because its bigger and easier to see) and the sex can be determined in most cases at this time. Until approximately 16 weeks, their sex cannot be determined because it hasn't differentiated yet and even then, they're a little small to see it. Don't sweat it, keep a journal of your pregnancy, and enjoy it while you can. Good luck to you.

Don't worry i have had 2 pregnancies and had no sickness at all (we are the lucky ones!)
Normally you would have a dating scan at 12 weeks, so when you c the midwife she will prob book you in for one pretty quickly!

Some women have no syptoms whatsoever, they even keep having periods, like myself, it's very normal. If anything you're one of the lucky ones, trust me you're not missing anything. Usually they schedule an ultrasound after your first appointment to make sure that the baby is well and everything is developing the way it should be, you will not know what you're having until at least 5 months. Good luck!!

Not every pregnancy is going to be the same. I didnt have symptoms or sickness with my first until after 20 weeks, still had periods, etc. They most likely will do a scan for your first appointment, to determine fetal age & see if everything is in good shape. Good luck & enjoy feeling good!!!!!

I didn't start throwing up until I was 4 months pregnant. Then I felt bad all the time. Kind of backwards from what we usually hear about pregnancy. They always say you feel bad in the first trimester, and then you get better. I didn't even know I was pregnant until the second. They should give you an ultrasound when you go in.
