50/50 wiite vinegar and water, best alternative is to spot clean and rent a rug doctor and clean the whole carpet, you can pick up a product at Walmart called OUT in the pet section, spray the areas with it after cleaning the carpet, cuts odors, works with an enzyme.....it works so good I use it instead fabreez. It has a fresh smell.

I had the same problem, but only cat urine! I bought some stuff from Petsmart called Nature's Miracle,..Just for Cats! It says that it works for dog urine also! It only took one time to treat it, but it took about a week for the smell to be completely gone! If that doesn't work try Urine Gone! It comes with a blacklight! I actually bought some at Target!

No home remedy will work. You have to use enzyme pet odor remover that you get from a good pet store. Even if you clean well enough that you can't smell it, if you don't use enzyme odor remover, your dogs will smell it and just go again in the same spot. Sorry.

Try listerine. The anticeptic removes the odor without damaging the carpet. Works great! I have two dogs and five cats. My housekeeper swears by it and has proven it to me!

A cheap little bottle of " Supper CD" will take care of it. I use it and it really works. The bottle claims that three drops of this stuff will kill the smell of a skunk. Though I have never had to test that claim...Thank God ! Good Luck...

Listerine I heard was a good one. I have never had a need to use it, but I heard it does work.
