Who is the #1 baseball team for 2006?
White Sox. they are world champions.

I want to say the Mets, but as a Mets fan my whole life I want to wait until September to reserve judement on that. As of today, they are the hottest team in baseball. I do think the Whitesox are the team to beat for 2006 again.

I believe that pitching is the key to baseball. History has shown that great pitching trumps good hitting every time. For this reason, I would pick the Detroit Tigers. Their rotation has the lowest ERA in the Majors. Their bullpen gets the job done with Joel Zumaya (100+ mph fastball) and Fernando Rodney (wicked breaking ball). Detroit's good pitching has been consistent and has lifted them to the top of the standings.

I'd say the New York Mets. They're really on a role to making history if they face the New York Yankees in the Fall.

I think as far as talent goes it would be the White Sox but I think the Tigers work the best as a team and that's why right now I think they are the best.
