Honesty id BS. I have been late in the past and told the complete truth I turned off my alarm and fell back asleep. They responded by saying don't make excuses. HUH? What excuse I told the truth.

Tell her that you had a previous appointment that doesn't end until whatever time and that you will arrive at work at whatever time. In the meantime forget your ride friend and make other arrangements to get to work as quickly as possible. Your friend (s) won't take care of you if you lose this job. And is the football practice a necessity---if not, skip the practice and go to work on time. I am sure they will find another man to fill in.

Sort out your priorities, if being at the football practice is very important, then ask your boss to allow you to come in late explaining to her why, and tell her you are willing to work to make up that hour, or you can ask a friend to fill in that time for you and you in turn work in your friend's time slot.

or you can scrap football practice if it is not a matter of life and death.

You could fane car trouble, or an upset stomach, or just take a sick day. If you have a history of calling out though, and you really want/need this job, maybe you better skip the football practice and just go to work.

you have to be honest with her or if she finds out you'll get fired.
if she says you're not going to be able to work there due to your schedule you will just have to find a different job.
if you are a really good employee and she actually cares about you as an individual she may work with you on days that you have practice of games....but once you are a working person you have an obligation to be there to do the job, that's why they hired you not so you could play ball. try and reach a tender spot in her and tell her you can make it up the next day or something. you may try to get someone to cover for you....hey you may even invite her to come watch one of you games. appeal to her heart if you think she has one;) just be honest and try to understand her requirements as someone who is trying hard to make a business work like you are trying to make your ball team better....

Tell her only that you are having a hard time finding ride to work on time today. But in the future, find a reliable way to get to work on time if want to keep the job.

Tell her that something extremely important came up and you have to either be late or you need to miss a day of work. She should understand this without you having to go into detail.

i THINK YOU SHOULD CUT OUT OF PRACTICE A little early and take a cab to work , but call her now and say you will be late cause you got a doctors appointment that you totally forgot about cause you been waiting a month for the appointment.

I know this sounds corny - but honesty is the best policy. It is hard to be honest, but you'll feel better in the end and then you won't have to worry about her finding out the truth like you would have if you had lied.
