By exercising and doing crunches at various angles to help define and bring out the detail. allso include cardio.
Squats help to,they force you to flex your abs because they call for more stability.
Oh and yes,you probably have too much body fat, or some water retention which can cause bloatedness.
If your eating correctly, like for instance eating lean cuts of meat or vegetables, that would help.

You have answered part of your question. Your muscles are there, they just don't come out unless the fat is gone. There is no easy answer to this. To loose the weight, eat only 1500 calories a day and exercise at least 30 min of rigerous sweaty exercise daily in the morning or at night, and don't eat in the late evening. Once the fat comes off, the six pack will show. But keep doing the cruches.

The key to getting a six pack is losing the body fat. You cannot simply spot-lose--as in, losing fat JUST on your stomach. Fat loss comes with overall body loss--so if you are chubby to begin with, you lose arm fat and lower leg fat before you lose fat on your waist, hips, and thighs. If you are skinnier to begin with, you lose fat on your torso--stomach, waist--since the other fat is already gone. The key to getting a six pack, thus, is to do lots of cardio (given you already have plenty of muscle.) Stripping the fat away, you will reveal your abs. Also--eating right is just as important, if not important, than simply hitting the gym. Building a killer body is about 30% gym and 70% nutrition.

I had the same problem, you have to start doing cardio along with crunches and do back exercises too to help. And eatting healthy low fat will help the process.

To get rid of the fat around your midsection mainly has to do with your diet. That is where your stomach is and is the closest area to deposit excess fat. But exercise helps-mix weight training with cardio.
