is this casual wear enough for a date?

Question

Having a date with a girl. Its supposed to be casual. Im nuts about her though. So obviously want to dress nicely.

I'm 5 feet 9. waist line is moderate. not fat but not thin either.

was thinking of this:
a dark colored shirt on the top an earth tone long pants
i wanna button the outer shirt and just have a little t-shirt showing at the neck.

What colored shirt should be on the top? im thinking dark colour? black?
Should the long pants be flat top or pleated?
what colour should the inner t shirt be?
this is classy and kind of casual but still really nice right?

I THINK THAT YOU SHOULD WEAR A NICE POLO SHIRT, WITH A WHITE T UNDERNEATH IT. THE PANTS SHOULD BE SOME NICE KHAKIS AND MAYBE SOME NICE SPERRY TOP SIDER SHOES. THE COLOR OF THE SHIRT SHOULD BE SOMETHING THAT WOULD BRING OUT THE COLOR OF YOUR EYES.

First where are you going on this date? The function should dictate the wardrobe. Look through the pages or GQ and look for the casual looks (avoid the ads) and pick the looks to replicate on your body/budget. Most importantly be comfortable.

black shirt, white underneath, khaki-colored pants...you can't go wrong with that. You might want to go with flat front as pleats are a little old mannish.

You have the right idea. I would usually go with something I have worn before and have had compliments on. Wear something you feel comfortable in, that way you don't have to be worried about anything on the date and you can focus on her completely.

wear something neutral, not too fancy but not everyday wear. Stick to a nice shirt and some nice jeans. Wear something brown or black.
