The question is a bit vague. Death is an option at all points in your life. The beauty of free will is that at any moment you have the ability to do anything you want, including taking your life.
However, most cultures believe that suicide is a punishable crime in the after life. Few cultures do believe that it is a viable option though.
Personally I feel that there is no excuse to take your life. It is the most selfish thing a person can do, and it can potentially destroy other people's lives. There is no good excuse for suicide, but it's a personal choice everyone has to make.

yes and no. yes it can be an option for someone who wants to stop his suffering and no, it is not optional for a fact that no one could stop death from coming. it is a cycle of life: to be born, to live and to die.

For me death is not an option until all of my life's goals are completed. Death will have to drag me kicking and screaming before then.
