Please give detailed reasoning. Why would you rather be able to see than hear? or visa versa. What are the pros and cons of your choice of disability?

Hello jmmevolve,
Please delete or change your reply to my question. For I can hardly call it an answer. My question is not meant to be offensive, conversely it is to be insightful. If you want to complain about my question please e-mail me, don't post your complaint as an answer. If you have better points than, "I think this may offend some people" I may remove my question. But if you are simply an irate person who is just answering questions to get meaningless points, I am offended by your whimsical response to my question. Please consider deleting it.
Thank you,
-Weston

Simple, deaf because there are way more things one cannot do while being blind than being deaf. There is greater freedom as a deaf person than being a blind person. It is all a matter of how much one can do.

I've been deaf since I was 10 months old, and the only thing I cannot do is talk on the phone, listen to the radio. I can still enjoy music with my hearing aids, but though I cannot catch all of the lyrics. I have to look at the person's face in order to commnicate. I do speak and lip read.

I've had no problems getting jobs, and my life has been wonderful with no complaints.

Based on my personal experiences, I think I'd rather be deaf. My job is on a computer most of the time, so I could keep doing the things I enjoy without being able to hear. I could watch sports, read emails, enjoy looking at beautiful women, and all the other things that sight allows. I'd miss listening to music if I were deaf, but I think I could get used to it quicker than being blind.

I would rather be blind. I had to think long and hard about this, but eventually decided that you can pick up what's going on on TV from just the audio, you can hear and feel nature without having to see it, there is very little that you can only see and cannot use other senses to decipher, whereas I need to be able to hear - I could never survive without music!

I would choose to be deaf, because it cant imagine not being able to see the sunset, or the ocean, or all of the wonderful creations of this earth. If you are deaf you can still talk by signing, and you can see. If you are blind you can speak, but you would miss out on all the beautiful things. You could try to imagine what you cant see, but its not the same.

In general, I think most men could live with being deaf while most women could live with being blind. Men are so visually oriented and women much more auditory.

Since I'm a guy, I'd probably rather be deaf than blind. I can live without music. I can't live without being able to read.

I am a Musician, and I have dedicated my life to music. So naturally I would forego sight for hearing.
It might be challenging to literally have to memorise every single piece of music, but I suppose they have brail for music. As a Pro, I would experience a boost to my hearing ability. Mabye even perfect pitch. Who knows?

Yes, I would be able to hear sonar, and ultrasonic. I could hear like a dog! A Cat! A Bat! HaHaHaHaHa!LMAO

I think I could go for the rest of my life and not hear stuff (no more fights between my kids! YEAH !!) if I could keep my eyesight. My mom was blind when she died, and we are a reading kindof of family- she nearly lost her mind not being able to read for herself. I sit by the hour and read, or watch my birdfeeders, or the garden I planted...I sure would hate it if I couldn't see all that!

Blind. I would hate to be deaf since my life revolves around my music. Being deaf would be the death of me. I would hate to be blind, though because I love to paint and draw so...I guess mute would probably be better for me. Everyone says my mouth gets me into to much trouble anyways.

I'd rather be blind, then I wouldn't have to see all the crap thats going on around us all everyday, being able to hear then you'd be able to put headphones on and listen to whatever you want to you can control that, you can't control the things you see everyday.
