Schedules and routines are very important for children and pets. Adults need them to a certain extent, primarily for work. However, they also need the brain to be stimulated by the element of surprise and spontaneity. Being rigid in a schedule and not open to changing it can lead to stagnation in the brain. Life life as it comes. Keep your brain open and stimulated and you will live longer and healthier.
You don't want to be the little old man/woman making a scene over your peanut butter sandwich because it is noon and that is the exact time you've eaten it for 35 years. Routines....good for little ones, only so good for adults.

if you want to stay organized, they are pretty important, but if it's a day where you don't have anything planned and you want to keep it flexible, then just do that.
