For my first wedding anniversary. I found the same negligee I wore on our honey moon night, and prepared a romantic dinner for him. I greeted him at the door with it on and ate dinner with him then took him to the bedroom for dessert where i placed the top of our wedding cake on my belly for him.

I say take a vacation to someplace new...or go back to where you had your honeymoon.
My first is coming up as well, and due to obligations from my husband, we had to have an august wedding. The only time of year he can travel is august, december-february. So I think we will be making an annual vacation in his break in August...so it'll always be a honeymoon for us... but we want to travel to a different country every year.
but don't try to make it some HUGE event (the romantic stuff is what you like, he probably won't even remember the anniversary) so make sure it is something memorable for both of you, don't just try to impress him. Why not talk to him and plan something together? Do something different to celebrate.
besides, 1 year is the paper anniversary... friends of mine made it special by making that paper gift be the title to a new boat!! :)

Traditionally, the first anniversary gift is supposed to be "paper." My ex-husband is a huge history buff and so I got him these really cool Civil War stamps - one Union and one Confederate. He loved them and the fact that I was so creative with my gift. We aren't married anymore but he still keeps those stamps displayed in his new home. They will always be special to him. Just think about what his interests are and what he enjoys doing. It will come to you.
