not enough power to your laptop, try putting in the recharging wire while you use it. If thats not the problem, try redownloading the software for the webcam

Sounds like a serious power distribution issue. Test your cam on a different computer and if it doesn't cause a problem, you need to get your own computer tested by a pro.
If it appears to be the webcam, bring it back to the shop with the receipt for a refund or replacement.

Shutting... off when Webcam is on... may be you should provide further information...
try uninstalling recently installed applications!

it could be a number of reasons. most likely it is conflicting with another device. the best way to solve this is to get a webcam that allows you to change its IRQ (most decewnt brands support this feature)

try this ,
before you turn on your computer plug in the webcam then turn the computer on it might work or it might not, usually does with my stuff though

Some USB devices don't work well with certain computers. I have seen this with Wireless Network Adapters and other devices.
