I don't believe so. This subject has been a "Hot Topic" for many religious groups since it is so popular and influential for young children. I see the cartoon characters as "Adult children." They have the responsibilities of an adult (having jobs, houses, ...), but still have the mentality of children (jellyfishing, tresure hunting, using "IMAGINATION,"...). If you have every watched little boys playing together, you will see that there isn't the masculine persona of boys must be rough and tough, yet. When boys are in school and made to held hands in line as they travel throughout the school, they are more likely to take a hand of another boy, since "Girls have kooties." I don't believe that they are homosexual, but rather misunderstood. I think if they were to be homosexual, we would see more predominate displays of affection (kissing, holding, ...) but nothing too racey for children, of course.

that is something i kinda wondered about...especially after that episode where they found that baby clam and they were raising it and patrick would go to work everyday and spongebob would put on an apron and cook and clean and take care of the baby clam all day and then when patrick came home spongebob nagged him like he was his wife or something.....very peculiar those two

They are cartoon characters. Unless the characters' creator intentionally made them act like homosexuals, and said so in public, no one else could know. Besides, only a small percentage of real people are homosexual.
