You can start by proofreading your resume'. Following that, wear something conservative, yet somewhat stylish (especially if it is a retail assistant management position). You should always maintain calm and confidence in anything you say or do. Nothing impresses an interviewer more than calm confidence.

First you want to make sure you can spell the position "Assistant Manager". Then you might want to find out where the Employment assistance program for your state is located. Usually it is connected somehow with your local Dept of Labor office. Once you find it sign up and take their employment skills enhancement offerings, usually theyre free. This will train you in resume writing, interviewing, dressing and presenting yourself appropriately, etc. I would do this even though the interview is on Monday so that you have the skills for future opportunities.

As for monday, I would surf the webs employment sites such as monster.com, careerzone.com, and others for articles answering just the sort of question you ask here. You might even go to the website rileyguide.com for tips and websites that have information. You could even yahoo search the subjects I mentioned in the previous paragraph and pull up articles. In any case youll probably spend the weekend preparing for this since youre asking on a friday. These are the sort of questions you want to get answered BEFORE you get an interview so that youre prepared. Oh, take copies of your resume AND have questions to ask. Youre going to want to know a little about the job and the atmosphere youll be working in. Youll want to know something about the manager youll be working under and the people youll be supervising. You might even ask about the person who had the job before you and why they left. Finally, have some knowledge of the company. Do some research on them. Try searching whatis.com with the company name to see what you can find.

G'luck

Keep in mind that an assistant managers job is to assist the manager. Sounds simple enough however a good manager is a good teacher. A good teacher is more valuable to a company than someone who knows everything but cannot communicate. Something that you could say to the famous question you will undoubtedly hear "Why should I hire you?" You could say "If I do not improve performance among the department fire me! As a matter of fact I will quit myself." Big words if you say them just make sure you can back them up.

I agree - proofread your resume. Also research the company and its competitors so that you can speak knowlegeably about its products and services and what they offer more than their competitiors and how you will fit into that business scheme. Also this shows initiative on your part. Managers are supposed to be leaders and leaders Step Up and Speak Up. Dress appropriately for the position depending upon the services offered. Last of all -- RELAX, they called you remember so you've already impressed someone!

What you should say: First, study the job duties and qualifications and write your reasons why you qualify to fulfill this position. Look at your training and experience. Be ready to answer every question that may come your way. It may be akin to studying for test.

Second, as an assistant manager, dress formally the way an assistant manager should look in that particular company.

Do the above, be relaxed, confident and smile, not grin.... you'll get it... believe in yourself...

You should dress conservatively blue, black or dark grey suit. As far as what to say just answer the questions and do go into great details unless they ask you too. Other than that relax because, guess what you already know the answers to all the questions.

GOOD LUCK
