I think that this hurricane season will be busy. There is no way to predict if there will be anything quite like Katrina. Will we be ready for it? You can never fully prepare yourself for something like that. The best thing that can come of that, is that hopefully more people will evacuate this time, and I pray that those who need assistance evacuating will receive it. You cannot prepare for something as destructive as that, but unlike tornadoes, you do have ample time to get out of it's way. I hope more people have respect for the damage, destruction, and death that a hurricane can do and that this year they will respect the evacuation order.

It makes me sad to see people making light of the situation and blaming it on those that chose not to evacuate. You ought to be ashamed of yourselves. Not everyone has access to a car, nor the ability to drive it. I'm thankful they probably don't have a computer either so they can't read your hurtful comments. I pray you are never in their situation, and stuck in an attic for a week, waiting for help, trapped in your flooded house.

I hope the predictions are wrong. We got more plywood and a generator this time !
It took us 28 hours to get 40 miles from our home as we fled hurricane Rite and a family member that was due in three weeks.
We were on I-45 in Houston Texas along with several thousand people.I was a nightmare ! !
Next time we don't plan to leave. If it's mandatory we will leave a week early

I think this season will be pretty close to being the same. I think people are more aware that it could happen to them, but in the sense that they will do something about it......there are always those people that want to stay in their homes b/c they do not want to leave them. I am one of the millions that evacuated for Rita and let me tell you, I hope more people are prepared, b/c i really don't want to sit in traffic for 26 hours to go a 3 hour drive.
