Well, I congratulate Bush's supporters for admitting, when they ask us to look at the positives instead of harping on the negatives, that there are negatives.
And I agree that we should ask, "So, what are the positives?" And by that I mean what positives beyond what any ol' president would do. For example, he made use of an old law, the National Antiquities Act, the authorizes the president to designate areas for preservation, and designated a large sea area in Hawaii as a National preserve off limits to fishing and development. That was nice, but then, hardly anybody was against it in the first place. But then, typically, he did this by using executive powers to sidestep the legislative process, which was bogged down but moving along as usual.
It is my opinion that the Bush presidency will go down in history as the worst government we have ever had.
He came to office under a cloud of suspicion. He evaporated the surplus in the treasury. He borrowed us into an incredible debt - he has borrowed more money than all the presidents before him combined. His government has delivered special legislation, exemptions, and privileges to big business big time. He has unilaterally abrogated treaties that have been the bedrock of international law and refused urgent treaties on the environment for short-term business gains. He has redefined torture to allow torture. He has eroded civil rights to the thinnest veneer with his warrantless searches and seizures. He has used his insistence that anti-terrorist efforts constitute a war to snag executive powers, and to silence critics and shroud his doings of all kinds under the blanket of "national security" and "state secrets" in the same manner as any dictatorship anywhere. He has not shown a decent regard for the opinions of our friends and allies, and has been highhanded and belligerent to the rest of the world, to the point where our reputation as a country and a people is ruined, and our influence is reduced to money and guns, as with any hoodlum.
His supporters, in asking us to focus on the "positive," forget that good points do not make up for bad ones, anymore than sweetening a poison with sugar makes it any the less deadly.

Great Liberal propaganda
Funny you mention oil while you refuse production in ANWR and off the coasts you are worried about Iraqi production. You fail to address Oil-for-food whose money is being used to kill our troops and that was a UN issue which libs like youself believe, the you blame George for it. You blame the oil companies for gouging when OPEC sets prices. We score a huge Victory and Capture the order of Battle of Al Quieda and you seek surrender.
like a majority of your liberal contemporaries and then try to wrap the flag around you by stating falsely that you support the troops.Libs try to seperate the war when it is GLOBAL in nature. Deny that Al Quieda was in Iraq in 2002 when their friendly sources for information make the claim that it is TRUE. Fox did reinforce CNN's position.
WMD's have not been found but saying that there were 17 UN resolutions that prompted us to forego the cease fire agreement and long range missles were recovered which was also forbidden. Time is with the Military and the Republican party at this moment in time and working against Al Quieda and their allies in the Democrat party and the Drive by Media. See HS (House Resolution)861
Have a nice day

Positives? There are positives in everything, so there must be some here.
The richest 1% have gotten richer, and if we eliminate the "death tax" they'll be able to rest easier.
We never would have known who Valerie Plame was.
All those people who became millionaires after 9/11 - nobody got any big checks after Oklahoma City.
But, seriously, the real positive that could come out of this mess is if the Democrats take the country back in November. They weren't appreciated before until Nixon showed the country how bad things could get. Before that it was Hoover. Maybe we're learning something from this.

listed below are some issues: one million) Bush better humanitarian help to Africa from $one million.4 billion to $4 billion, doubled commerce with Africa, and released an incredible attempt to handle AIDS and malaria. 2) even with the nay-sayers, our air and water have been purifier on the tip of the Bush administration than at any element because of the fact the beginning up of the commercial revolution. 3) i'm between people who did no longer like the Iraq conflict. yet he bumped off a despotic chief who slaughtered one million or so of his very own human beings. 4) till the Democrats took value of the handbag strings in 2007, unemployment became continually low and our debt point relative to the dimensions of our financial device remained in an particularly sustainable selection.

In three short years he has ousted a psychotic dictator, implemented sweeping domestic security measures to try and prevent another 9/11 type event from happening, held free elections in a state once ruled by fear, taken an entire country with minimal loss of life, and maintained a fairly booming economy that is only now starting to turn under Bernanke.
I'd say all those things are pretty darn good.

I will tell you.... I hope I don't leave anything out!!
1. Low unemployment (5.3 million new jobs)
2. Excellent growth.
3. Low inflation (under 3% ... in spite of gas prices)
4. Low interest rates.
5. Bush has given tax breaks back to the working class.
6. Has lead the world in aid to Africa.
7. He has appointed more minorities to the highest levels in government.
8. He has increased spending on education, environment, social programs, Medicaid and drug plans.
9. He has extended tax cuts.
10.The economy is still stable in spite of the war and Katrina.
And:
He has restored our moral values. He relies on God for guidance in his decision making. (His ethics and moral values are those seen of Godly men.)
He cares enough to try to make this country a better and safer place?
He openly asks for solutions from both parties. (but because of their political agendas would rather his polices fail then for them to work as a team to better this country.)
And the war in Iraq has brought down an evil dictator, Saddam, and freed the Iraqis to begin a new government. They now have a Prime Minister and a full Cabinet, and have established their own Constitution. They have soldiers in training and a police force. And the Iraqis are thankful to our troops for their help and support in all these things.
And now, our troops, our coalition, and the Iraqi police have brought down and killed the evil terrorist leader, Abu Musab al-Zarqawi. Since his death, many raids (400+) and many documents and have lead to the capture of other terrorist.
President Bush has accomplished much... in spite of bashing from the media and the left...
Unfortunately, the "leftist" and Liberals will see nothing but negativity in our President. They will continue to make fun of his way of talking, the way he looks, the way he walks, and never give him any credit for any of the good he has done.
This bashing and disrespect is sad that they choose to do this instead of supporting him. However, President Bush will just continue doing the job he was elected to do, inspite of them.

The Hawaii protected reef was a good thing.
I lean to the left myself, but to understand the other side instead of merely flaming them at every opportunity, one needs to see what they see in this administration as progress. A lot of people see the war on terror as a proactive solution that will work with enough resolve. That's not stupidity, it's more like faith.
I just happen to think that faith is misplaced.

Well, for one, you are blaming Bush for terrorist attacks in Iraq. He certainly can't control what terrorists do, he can only stop them. How about I blame rising gas prices on you because you drive a car? Is that truly fair? Absolutely not.
One of the biggest positives is that you have a person who tells you what he is doing, the reason he sees for doing it (whether that reason is real or not, and whether you agree with it or not), and who continues to do the job until it is done. He doesn't let down and he doesn't lie to you.
