Mascara was created by a chemist, T.L. Williams in 1913, for his sister (whose boyfriend, Chet, was in love with another woman). To help Mabel get her man, TL Williams blended vaseline jelly with coal dust and concocted a lash -darkener. It was the first mascara!

Well iythink thath mascara if freat. b/c i always put it on to atttract the boy s adn it looks good on me. I dont no who the inventer was but who ever they are they are vey very very rich. B/c every time it sells they get like 50% of the money and their are over 1 ,ilion people in the world and alot of htemn are girls so thye use it. What do u have aganst it in the first place. It is a great makeup and i think that u should u it. And eyeliner is cool 2. Sothink about it.

Williams started a company - which he dubbed "Lash-Brow-Inc" - to produce the world's first mascara. Sales were slow until he renamed the company (after his sister): "Maybelline."
