Believe it or not, I made it up back in 1977. I have received no credit for it. I should have patented it or something back then. I visited California in 1977 and some large bug was trying to bite me. I finally gave up trying to swat it and said "Go ahead and BITE ME you ##%%$% bug". My whole family laughed and I told them to BITE ME too and the saying was born. All my cousins started saying it and it spread like wild fire in California. It really caught on in the later 1980's and then the Simpsons added it to their show in the 1990's. As they say the rest is history.

I FIRST HEARD THAT EXPRESSION IN THE LATE 70'S EARLY 80'S FROM THE TV SHOW "GRACE UNDER FIRE". IT WAS ONE OF HER SAYINGS. I STILL SAY IT.
