You can try an ovulation detector or kit but honestly most women don't need it. If your cycle is 28 days long like most women your most fertile days will be between 12-14 after the first day of your last period.

The very best way to find out when you are fertile is by practicing FAM (the Fertility Awareness Method). There is a book you can buy called "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" by Toni Weschler. It is amazing. It teaches you how to monitor three things, here is a brief description:
Cervical fluid:
Dry, or sticky-not fertile
Creamy or lotiony
Eggwhite-ish (most fertile)

Cervical position:
Low, hard, closed
High, soft, open (most fertile)

Basal Body Temperature:
Your temperature will spike around ovulation.

I love this method and have found it very helpful in ttc.

The website is www.tcoyf.com

I highly suggest using this method, along with a Ovulation Predictor kit. It's fantastic.

Most women are fertile 10 to 18 days from the first day of their period. So you need to keep an ovulation calendar. I have one on mymonthlycycles.com. It is free. Ex: If your period started on June 16th then you would probably be ovulation anywhere from the 26th to the 4th of July(it is different for all women). You would want to have sex that whole week leading up to the day you actually ovulate! The best way to tell if you are ovulating is to buy a basal thermometer and check your temperature every morning. The day before you ovulate your temperature will actually increase by 1 degree. Also a way to know you are ovulating is to check your cervical mucuous. If you wipe and you see a discharge that is stringy and has the consistency of egg whites then you are ovulating. Good luck TTC.

There are a few ways to figure out fertile days. One is to get an ovulation test. They typically sell them in drug stores, and they let you know when you're highest on the hormones that cause ovulation. The next (and most common) is a temperature test. You take your temperature every day for a month, and on the days when it's 1 to 1.5 degrees higher than your normal temperature (assuming you're not ill), that's when you're ovulating and most fertile. Your temperature typically raises the day of ovulation and stays higher for 2-3 days. You might want to keep a calendar for a couple months, recording your temperature daily, because there's usually a pattern. Once you recognize the pattern, it gets a lot easier.

well there are ovualtion kits you can try im doing them now and they are great !!! you buy them at the drug store or any shop that sells pregnancy stuff... you buy an ovulation kit for 5 days it comes with 5 peeing cups and 5 tests you do one test a day for 5 days at the same time every day.... it sort of looks like a pregnancy test but for ovualtion.... it comes up positive when you are at your highest and that means you are going to ovulate in 24 - 36 hours so you have sex on the day you get a positive and the day after....its worked for alot of women thats just an easier thing to try so that when you know you are most fertile you can plan a romantic evening and just enjoy the night instead of worrying the WHOLE month about making sure that you and your husband had sex on certain days so goodluck and for the future CONGRATS

If u have ur periods regular, the egg will be released between 13-15 day of ur cycle. But if u have ur periods irregular the ovulation will be between 13-17 day. The best method is to go for a ovulation test. Good luck.

An Ovulation Test

2006-06-16 04:08:52 · answer #7 · answered by ACK & DJ 4 · 0 0

if your cycles are very regular they say that your most fertile days are 14 days before your next period when you ovulate!
I used a website www.babyzone.com to help me figure out when i was fertile to actually avoid being pregnant, but 5 months later! hehehe, i had to tell him we are expecting!
I believe it works! But if your cycles are very irregular try charting out when you get your period and count 14 days before that and buy an ovulation kit! It should be able to tell when you are most fertile!
Also physical signs can vary but this is what i got when i was ovulating:
fatigue, uncomfortable side cramps, thirsty and i had increased vaginal discharge!
If you have any of those symptoms mostly the cramps and discharge you could be ovulating and if you are trying to get pregnant thats when to try!
Good luck and let us know what happens!

Use a combination of thermomet to measure basal body temperature as soon as you awake in the moring, a chemical ovulator test kit and a record of when you menstrual cycle starts.
