It depends on maturity, the age of the child and of course the parents comfortablity with you. I have heard anywhere from 11-15 but if you are watching an infant I wouldn't let anyone under 18. Also if the kids are older like 11 than I really wouldn't allow anyone less than 18 to watch my kids. It's really a judgement call on behalf of the parents. Legally I believe it changes from state to state I know in CA it's 12.

I started babysitting around 12, so that could be a good age. Maybe before you start babysitting though you could take a CPR class. When it comes to little kids, anything is possible

It sort of depends on you as a person. Are you responsible? Would people trust you with their kids? I think I started babysitting at about 11 with my parents home, and late 12-early 13 by myself.

13 or 14, check out your local hospital or Y they have babysitting courses, also if you have family that you could babysit for first to arrange for references. start with short times and see how it goes or try being in charge of the kids with the parents at home but in another room

Depends on who you are babysitting and if you have ever babysat before- i would say 13 or 14 if it wasn't your brothers or sister, but if it is for them then 11 or 12

I feel 14 or 15 is a good age. And if you know the famillies it could be younger if you are mature enough. And if the families are comfortable with you watching their children.
