That would be nice, but it is very complicated to implement. And it had the potential to get more out of hand then what we got now.
I think the senators, representatives, and other major government officials should take a pay cut. That could save millions per year. And it could make them more concerned for the average American.

YES and not just any policy, the single best legislation to be introduced into the house and Senate.
THE FAIR TAX
HR 25
S 25
It eliminates the Income tax, death tax, social security withholding, medicare withholding, dividends, you name it and replaces it all with a Federal sales tax on new items and services.
THAT WILL NEVER WORK
Well the economics department at MIT would disagree with you, because they developed it!
This new tax code will make every account like a ROTH IRA! It will encourage savings and the accumulation of wealth.
It will also give power back to the people and minimize corruption all at the same time!
There will be no more tax loopholes so, fewer lobbyists trying to get tax cuts for just their company.
I think it would be the best things our country has ever done.

Yes!!
I believe a "Flat tax" would generate more tax revenue and at the same time reduce the huge bureaucratic force now in place to collect the tax.

A flat tax with NO exemptions would be great. But that would put a lot of accountants, politicians and lawyers in a position of not being needed. It will never happen.

I am all for a flat tax, but that would discourage home ownership and disproportionately benefit renters. Maybe a flat tax on all earnings, dividends, cap gains, and incomes after any mortgage interest and property taxes.
