constanly correcting other people's spelling errors? Is it to be nice or to make fun of? I know there is a spell check but some people probably just forget to use it. If someone makes a spelling error is it THAT big of a deal. Good gosh lighten up people. Maybe I should lighten up too but I just had to get it off my chest. AAAHHH now I feel better LOL!!! I agree with you that it's not that big of a deal. BUT, a lot of people in my generation (I'm in my 40s) are concerned about the degradation of language skills in general in our society. We were taught penmanship, grammar, spelling as fervently as math and science. I do prefer to read proper grammar and spelling, but I would never criticize someone in this type of forum for infractions.

I do it too, but I can tell you why. It's not to make fun of or anything. I'm kind of anal retentive about spelling and grammar. I did it all through high school so it's just always been my thing.

Spelling and punctuation and grammar are important. The reason that we have language rules is so that everyone can understand each other. If those rules break down, our communication does, too.

My spelling has gone down the drain since I've been doing this. I see so many typos and I think it's rubbing off on me. I don't bother to correct people....I just let it go.
