my old computer is not working so i'm trying to tranfer music from my ipod into my new computer's library. is it even possible?

Usually, you need to go to My Computer, and then open the mp3 player as if it were a flash drive. Then go to tools, folder options, and go to the tab VIEW. In the middle of the window there is an option to show hidden folders and files, click that and then hit apply. Then your mp2 player should show you folders that weren't there before, and you go to the one that has all the music stored in it.

Be aware however, that if this is an iPod, it renames the files into four letters and you can rarely tell what song it is just by looking at the name. Good luck,

once the computer reconized the device just right click it and click transfer to windows media player or itunes etc...

You need iTunes, and need to right cable on the computer to read it. Either firewire or usb.
