The "new" NHL introduced some interesting rule changes for the first season after a season-long lockout: tag up offside, penalty for shooting the puck over the boards, no line change against the team icing the puck, goalies unable to handle the puck in certain areas of the ice. What rule change/adjustments would you like to see prior to the 2006-07 NHL season?

I like many of the new rule changes. I absolutely love 4-on-4 during overtime. It opens the game up more. One rule I would like to see though is that a player's namemust have a minimum of 3 vowels, just so I can know how to pronounce it.

I like the new rules overall. The hockey has been much better this year, especially the playoffs. Its both the fact that the new rules are good ones AND they are actually enforcing the existing rules more.

I agree with bivdog in fact I have always thought that if the goalies are out of their crease then they should be like any other player. They can handle the puck if they want to but they can be bodychecked in a legal fashion just like any other player. They should only be protected when they are in their crease and only then I agree there should be no contact.

I'd like to eliminate the trapezoid, as well. It's silly since you shouldn't penalize the good keepers. Let them be the "3rd defenseman". They work hard at good puck handling skills.

Additionally, I'd like a heavier enforcement of diving. There is too much of it right now.

Finally, I'd like to see a floating blue line. This is where once you get into the zone, the center line becomes the new blue. It's a little complicated but guys are too big/fast now for such a small area.

New rule: Let the goalies go wherever they want on the Ice, even to the other end of the ice.

I don't think the diving rule is any good. Sure a guy should get penalized for it, but it should be one way or the other. If it's a trip or holding, or hooking, it can't be a dive. Both guys getting a penalty doesn't make sense.

I love the shoot outs. That has me on my feet every time.

One change I would like to see is calling so many penalties. They want the ref's to crack down on penalties. Dont get me wrong penalties are good. But not 20 in one period.
