Hello. I'm about to have my baby in 5 weeks. I basically shop everywhere there is a great deal. Word of advise don't buy newborn size its a waste of money. Start with 6 months and up. I learned this from my twins. For the new baby I have bought things off of clearance racks despite the bigger size (Target, Walmart). Believe it or not some of the dollar stores have great items too. Just look around. My ideal price is 12.99 and below.

Baby Center has a great website with not only a store but quite a bit of useful information and weekly updates with information such as milestones your child should be reaching.

E-bay. You can get just about everything you need, especially clothes, cheap! Some stuff is used, but usually in great condition. I would probably not buy bigger stuff(like stroller, car seat etc.) because you will pay a TON for shipping!
