In the UK the DVLA (governmental vehicle licence department) know exactly where any untaxed car is located among the millions of cars in UK in order that instant fines can be produced and collected. The government havent a clue where thousands of illegal immigrants and terrorists are located.

Should we put the DVLA in charge of terrorism and border control

This isn't fully true.

The DVLA are just showing off.

The truth it that the DVLA know where some untaxed cars.

If they knew where ALL the untaxed cars were then they wouldn't have and/or need, nor ask for/allow members of the UK public to call a freephone number to report untaxed cars!

This is just another Government ploy to make themselves look all powerful and big!

The way that the DVLA 'supposedly' know where all these cars are is because the cars were previously taxed and they just look at when the current tax disk expires and compare this to their records of new tax disks. I don't see this as reliable myself.

Oh and if they supposedly know all this then why did a car local to me have an expired tax disk for a while yet it still got sold on etc etc.

And no we shouldn't put the DVLA in-charge of Terrorism and/or Border Control.

No because they dont really know. I know somone who was followed home and threatened by someone in a car. They drove off but not before my friend got the reg. Reported it to the police and they said they would find out with the help of the DVLA where the person was. They never found him, the reason, the car was not taxed or insured so they didnt have a clue where to look!!!!!

Sounds like a very good idea - either the DVLA or the TV Licence people - they always seem to know who hasn't got a licence!

Border control? What you on about? As far as i was aware the only borders we have are English/Welsh and Scottish/English. Is it now illegal to cross them? When did this happen? Are you off your head? Why do all your questions start with "Have you ever thought about it ?"
