We are giving away our freedoms and have been convinced it's a good thing. Why have we, as voters , allowed this to happen?Am I the only one who is ready to start a 2nd American Revolution?

Benjamin Franklin said to lose liberty is to give away our rights alittle bit at a time. I know all about the terrorists, I am a New Yorker. If they did these things after letting us ( the voters) decide it was ok to do these things I might not be so upset.

Apathy and ignorance are killers of freedom. Fear is the lack of knowledge of the things around you. You will never be secure behind walls you are just a prisoner of your own making. It is important to keep the spirit alive and if necessary yes, a revolution.
We should not loose our rights through fear.

What you seem to believe is that you had all these freedoms before .. you didn't .... while we live in a "free society" it is and always has been only "sort of free". The term "free society" has two words that, in many ways, almost contradict each other. We have always had laws and restrictions and rights reserved for the government only that protect us as citizens. While I am very much in favor of as much personal liberty as possible I am also smart enough to realize that I will certainly have to sacrifice some things to live in a world populated by idiots such as yourself who believe that violence is a valid way to attempt to get ones point across.
You said "Am I the only one who is ready to start a 2nd American Revolution?" and THAT, my friend, is why we cannot live in a totaly free society.

I am sure nothing that I talk about on phone with my friends and family and co-workers is of any interest to HLS or NSA. They can listen to - all they want and it won't hurt me any.
What is wrong if they are looking for terrorists but by eves-dropping discover paedophiles and drug dealers? I don't care how the criminals are caught as long as they are caught.
I have not felt my civil liberties infringed upon any more now than before 9/11.
Consider this: when you take a day off from work to go to a doctor, you have to have an FMLA filled out by the doctor which requires her to tell your employers what disease process she treated and with what medicine... talk about infringement of privacy! But no one whines about that because FMLA act was passed during Clinton years.

I think some of the violations of liberties would be perfectly acceptable in these times IF you/we trusted the government and their intentions.. We launched this unprovoked invasion of a sovereign nation and I still cannot figure out the motivation behind it.. you know, my phone calls are mostly home [I'm an expat - a simple individual form of revolution] to my 86 yr old mom.. it's not that interesting.. but they can listen in if they want - you can too.. We talk about headaches.. Sounds like you could fit right in to the conversation...

Those two things are a joke now. And Bush is the biggest force pushing the change.
With Alito nominated, and the war in Iraq, Americans have never been more screwed.
Ppl in other countries like Americans, but not their gov. I'm pretty sure they feel sorry for us now too.

I understand what you are saying however, if it was your husband, brother, son, etc. that was killed on 9/11 you would stop and realize that however inconvenient it may be, a delay while going through or into something is better due to peace of mind in the end.

I'd rather have no fear of a terrorist attack and fewer freedoms than being completely free and have to worry about going to a restaurant and being blown up by someone out to get the government.

The best way to change things is just to get out and vote and to become active in getting others to do the same.

I haven't had a single one of my liberties encroached upon, nor has anyone I know...
It's not the lack of liberties that has me up in arms, its the degredation of our government from both sides of the aisle...
Out with the old, in with the new...
