If you don't contribute to SS, you don'y get it. Simple as that.

You need to apy for a number of years in order to qualify.

So, illegal inmigrants and anyone else living "off the books" don't qualify, period.

Get informed.

In order to receive Social Security funds you most have 10 years (40 qtrs) of declarable income, which is not accessible until you are either 65 or later (depending on your date of birth)

Actually, your tax equation is incorrect, and not specific to just non-citizen Americans. Anyone who received a paycheck is responsible for 3 different and distinct taxes which go into different government pools.

Federal Tax is a sliding scale based on the # of dependants you have, whether you are single/married, and how much money you make during the period covered on the check.

Social Security is a fixed percentage of your gross earnings, not matter what it is, and only when you reach $80,000 in any given year do you stop paying this tax. (most people never reach this cap)

Medicare is also a fixed percentage of your gross earnings, no matter what it is. There is no cap on this.

Most people will escalate their dependants so they will receive more money back on every check and limit their Federal Income Tax deduction, but no body can avoid Social Security and Medicare. Truthfully, because of all the persons working illegally in our country there is a surplus of funds in the Social Security System which has no place to go because it is not attached to the proper identity.

Actually the opposite is often true. It's common practice to use someone else's SS number to get a job in the us, all the while paying into the system money they will never be able to collect.

An example of uninformed crooked paranoid "patriotism." Nobody gets SS if they didn't contribute long and hard.
