Are the two related? If someone has no pets (because they don't want them, not because of logistics/health reasons/conflicting interests etc), does this mean they're less inclined to be affectionate to humans than someone who has pets and gives them a lot of love?

I always find that the way people react/ interact with animals is a very good way of judging their character. Generally I would say that there is a relationship berween the two, BUT I have seen some hard-hearted seemingly mean people be incredibly affectionate and gentle with a beloved pet. Apparently Hitler was incredible affectionate towards his German shephard dog 'blondie', a pretty good indication I think that the relationship between the two is less than clear-cut.

I like pets better than people.
I tend to distrust anyone who has no pets, especially people who say that it's "disgusting" to have an animal in the house, or that they're all dirty, or anything along those lines. They also tend to be very cold people in relationships.
I've known some mean people that really loved their pets (I'm probably one of them) but were awful to the people around them. But a pet is an icebreaker. If nothing else, you can talk about your dog-cat-bird-fish-whatever when the weather gets too boring.

Tigger says yes. But when it comes to inter-personal relationships, some people are less likely to reciprocate. But like at work, if you are around people enough, you develop a more personal relationship and this is where it would show.
But meeting someone on the street and being able to talk to them ? That depends on many other things like finding something in common that is interesting to both people. Some people are home bodies while others are home when they need to slow down a little :).

I don't think you can judge people that way at all. Some people just don't want animals in their lives. However if you see that someone abuses animals, or talks like they would, then perhaps you should stay clear of them. I myself love animals of any kind. I won't even kill a spyder. And I care for people and respect life. Loving an animal makes you a better person for sure, because it's easy to do so.

I feel more comfortable giving love and affection to my pets and other animals as they are very honest.
I deal with people all day long and find that my pets relieve my stress.
I am still a very social person but when I want to be alone I still want to have my darlings with me.

not really. There are people mean toward others yet like their pets. I think this is because pet - owner relation can be view as possesive relation, while in person to person might has no possessive factor.

Simple answer: it depends.
However, caring for pets demonstrates the ability to put someone else's well-being above their own conveniences, if not above their own happiness. It's obviously different than an inter-personal relationship, but it confirms the person's ability to have a loving, caring relationship.
I do have friends that are scared of my cats & dog - based on bad childhood experiences they're nervous around them - but they are still warm & loving people.
Plus, I have friends who are amazing with animals, working with feral cats & stray dogs that no one else can, but these friends are socially awkward and have poor relationship skills.
So again, it depends.

not really. I love my family (pets) and my wife and kids but I can't really stand most homosapiens for one thing or another. My dogs I know rate over darn near everybody.

No. I think we treat pets the way we WANT to be able to treat people, but we're broken individuals that can't release our inhibitions to treat people the way we want to. Often people are good with pets but bad with people or vice-versa.

No. Some people are not animal lovers.
Nevertheless, kindness to animals (even if you don't have one) describes if you are gentle or not.
