Homosexuality is something you have to accept. It has always been around and it will always exist. It is not their fault. Let's leave them alone... HOWEVER (there is always one, isn't there ?)... their union should be purely a contractual one and NEVER, EVER, be called "marriage". It isn't... MARRIAGE.
This is what I find wrong... not only wanting to call it 'marriage' which it can NEVER be, but the trend now of same sex couples wanting desperately to ADOPT children as if they are desperate to make their unions look a bit more like man/woman relationships, but however leaving out completely the interests and feelings of the children involved. Very, very wrong.

I think that it is important to protect every person's civil rights, even if we are personally unaffected. Every American, under the constitution is supposed to be allowed "inalienable rights", which is the right to pursue personal happiness. For instance, every person in America is allowed to try to buy a house or own a car. This is the very principle of what a Democracy is supposed to be. Inalienable rights is why America allows people from nations all over the world to come here to pursue whatever defines "the American Dream" for them.
I don't understand why anyone would object to same sex marriage. If a person wants to make a lifetime commitment to another person, who am I to judge them? There was a time that interracial marriages were against the law. Times change and as Americans, we have to have the ability to adapt.
The important thing about protecting the civil rights of others is that if there were an issue that effected you personally, as long as it did not hurt anyone, would you want your rights taken away from you just because you were different from others.
I am personally not bothered by the homosexual lifestyle. Why should they offend me? I have my husband, we have our children and we are happy. I have no reason to discriminate against of group of people who would like to build a similar (but different) lifestyle to what I have. I live life that I enjoy with my family. I want you, whoever you are, to be able to do the same. If there were ever any junket on the ballot that might allow you the same happiness that I believe, everybody has a right to pursue, I will certainly vote for it. The gay community is nameless and faceless to me, but I feel and understand thier plight.
Same sex marriage? Yes! It is more important to me to defend our constitution than it is to condemn a group with homophobic urgency.
P.S. There are other issues that I haven't even touched on. There is the issue of medical benefits through an employer, etc...

I think same sex marriage is completely fine. They are people just like the rest of us and they can't help what their sexual orientation is no more than straight people can help being straight. Gay people don't bother me bit. I'm not worried that they will ask be to join them because I'm obviously not their type (being straight). Same Sex Marriage is completely legal here in Canada and I think the US should make it legal as well but I can't see that happening.
So for all those Gay's and Lesbians out there, be who you want to be and don't be ashamed of anything you are perfectly beautiful and unique.

What do U refer to ....Gay?.. or.. Lesbian? I do not know what they are looking for marrying a person of the same sex. They are only changing their role of being a man or a woman. But their gender remain unchanged. What is their intention of having such marriage? They could not have any siblings from such marriage. Why waste your life just to have fun, U will never have your generation. Think about it.

I think two people who love each other and want to commit to spending their lives together should be able to do so and have their commitment sanctioned by the state -- no matter what sex they are. If a particular religion doesn't want to sanction such marriages, that's fine (it's their right to believe what they want to believe) -- but they have no right to project their beliefs on the rest of a free society.
I'm straight, and I'm married -- it does me absolutely no harm whatsoever to allow anyone else the ability to make the same public commitment that I did. You don't have to agree with something or want to do it yourself to understand that other people have the right to believe/act differently than you do!

Despite our progress into civilisation, I think the same sex marriage is about 250 years back into the dark ages.

It is unnatural. There should always be the POLE and the HOLE, the man and the woman. Doesn't nature teach us that? Have you seen two male cheetahs doing sex? or two female pandas engaging in oral sex? Are humans lower than the animals to contemplate such an unnatural union?
