today? I personally think there is a bright future. My son is 17 and he has a lot of friends. They are ALL very intelligent, wonderful people!! When pick him up at school sometimes, I also noticed that the teens aren't dressing as freaky as they used to - almost all of them "looked normal" -- and big school. I'm not afraid for my grandchildren and the future.

using the dressing freaky was not politically correct - sorry. But they all seem to be happy with who they are

If you judge people as "normal" by how they dress, I feel sorry for you. At your age, you should know by now that people put up a "front" to certain people, they show you what they want you to know. I have a feeling you are only experiencing a small number of kids who are well-off.

I see the world as it is, and I am very concerned that the vast majority are growing up in less than stable environments. Parents are less involved in their childrens lives in some ways and it is having a direct impact on them.

Too many are more concerned with making a lot of money, (just look at some of the postings on here by teens), or the boys are sex maniacs (just look at the postings by boys on here). They have no morals, good values or integrity. It is very, very sad.

In my church, I see kids that are the most well behaved I have ever seen. They are well taken care of and their parents are not at all wealthy or highly educated. But they do well in school, aren't into drugs and sex is saved for marriage. Their parents have taught them well, as many parents should be doing. Unfortunately, many of the parents out there need to be taught...they themselves don't have a good idea of what is right and wrong.

being 21...our future is bright, there are just some people who are not ready to handle it...as for people dressing "freaky," you should never go by that. a lot of my friends are highly intelligent people and know what they are looking for in life, and dress "freaky"...the clothes people wear do not determine whether they or smart or not and should also not determine if people are friendly or scary...a lot of people who dress in the goth styles are very friendly people and i find that they are the ones i can usually get along with better!

Uh, maybe you should be afraid of the future. I mean, I have a lot of friends (teens, of course) who look fine and "normal" on the outside. Inside, they are falling appart though. Some cut themselves. Some have sex with guy friends because they're simply lonely. Some have eatting disorders. At least one of them has tried to kill herself at least six times. While you may consider some of my friends "weird" (because of tattoos, dredlocks, a mohawk, black makeup, etc), the majority of my friends are intelligent, straight-A students who look "normal" and will soon head to college. Yet a lot of them are dying inside. So help.

Did you know one out of every six of today's teens will end up in prision sometime during the course of their lives? That's a lot higher rate than ever before. Help my generation and get statistics at www.freewebs.com/thisgeneratio n101 (without the space between "thisgeneratio" and "n101").

The opportunity is there, but are they ready for it?
