Do I need to be a member first or what?

no you dont need to be a member. you can walk straight into any western union and use this. if you realy wanted to you can apply for a western union gold card. which will be sent through the post. all you do is fill out a form with the counter assistants. then when you recieve your gold card you can go to any western union and just give them the card and they will swipe it through the computer to get all your details on the screen. its quicker and easier to use. and its better than waiting for all the information to be typed in every time. also if you are sending money to 1 person only you can also have there details put on there as well.

It is not a membership club.
You go to any big chain grocery store and find the Western Union counter.
Tell them you are sending to (the person's name) and the town of the person and give them the money and get a reciept.
Tell them a secret word to use to verify the person getting the money is the right person.
Then tell the person getting the money the secret word.
They go to the nearest grocery store and pick up the cash.

You can become a member online if you transfer money frequently. Or you can go to their website and find local stores from where you can go and do it.
