I'm painting some walls and have taken off the wood floor molding. Once I paint it is it possible to put it back on? How about using Liquid Nails, would that work?

Taking the toe strips off is fine, and I would nail it back in, use putty to cover over the existing holes and prime and paint for touch up.

I've been painting for 40 years and rarely if ever would I remove molding to paint,,,,even stained molding. I use blue painters masking tape by the mile.

If the molding is painted, there is even less sense in removal.

The only time I'd advise degrading molding by removal then replacing the same only to patch and repaint, would be if you were adding flooring that would cause the need to remove floor moldings.

To strictly answer the question, yes it would.

Yes. Use new nails in the original holes, fill and touch-up. Liquid nails wouldn't work as well. The original nail holes would be more difficult to fill and removal of the molding in the future would be very difficult.

Don't use new nails in the sma holes you'll lose the integrity of what a nail is for. Nail in new spot ( if you can use a braid nailer with small nails) easy and fun to do.
Fill in with naill hole filler the hardning kind then prime and paint.
If you use old nail spots to reinstall this it maybe loose or not hold at all.

I always do it. Be careful when removing so you don't break it. Throw away the nails and use new ones in the same holes when you replace it.

Set the nails gently with a nail punch.

If u take a pair of pliers & put all the stuburn nails through from the back, it won't tear up the front of the moulding & will be easyer to fill. just a little tip for ya.

It would work fine, be hard to remove again though.
