Hollywood is simply trying to create conflicts in the films. I mean, who would see a movie about a perfect world where everyone was the best of friends?No one, that's who.The only reason it happens in the U.S is becuase it is something that the American audience can easily relate to, making it seem all the more real. Besides, if you ever watch the end of those movies, you would see that the hero always saves America or the world (name me one that doesn't). So what Hollywood is really saying is that no matter what the odds (aliens, natural disasters, raging robots, zombies, biochemical hazards, demons, devils, terrorists, meteors, nuclear explosions, wars, whatever) the U.S will always end up on top; now to me, that's patriotic.No, these are not the movies you should worry about. It's movies like Farenhiett 9/11 that are a strike againist patriotism. When you make a documentary saying that you don't like the way the President handled things, then you are not a very good American. Now, I don't agree with everything the President does (BRING OUR BOYS HOME), but that doesn't mean that I should try to rally people againist him in a negative way. GOD BLESS THE U.S.A WAY! GOD BLESS TEXAS

I think Writers and directors have an axe to grind. I think they are trying to do what H.G. Wells did with War of the Worlds and put man in the place of the things he currently dominates. In that manner they can teach us a lesson about how myopic our perspectives can be. I also thinks that the current teen audience is addicted to comic books. You don't see alot of up beat movies, except chick flicks, because the movie companies are ater the almighty dollar. Try watching some independent movies. They tend not to focus on the fantastic but the mundane. It's the old Wordworth/ Coleridge controversy. Do you make the fantastic look ordinary or the ordinary look fantastic? Most stories are going with the first approach. Indies tendd to go with the latter.

I think it's more that we love to have a bad guy. As we watch America being destructed in the movies, as Americans we love to hate the bad guy who is doing it. It makes us want to see that antagonist go down hard! Often when you are writing a story, you want the audience to really cheer for the Protagonist (America in this case) and in order to really get people cheering for the protagonist often the best way to really get them behind you is to make the Antagonist (destroyer of America) really really really really bad. Se it/he/she destroys America or something that stands for America or a part of it. So we cheer America on, and we cheer when it prevails against all odds. If it's a down ending then it's probably a "wake up" tale where the writer wants to challenge the way we do things and say, everything is NOT OK! In this case they would be right, it's always good to challenge the status quo and see what is possible rather than just hide our heads in the sand when things are going wrong.

I totally agree, with you on that! I wouldn't pay to go see any War movies, or Natural disaster type flicks, or just plain violent blood, slice & dice movies! Its all just "Negative Forces" Hollywood is putting in our heads! And for some people these movies, if seen at young ages, will stay with you the rest of your life! I saw this 60s scary movie, when I was about 7, or 8 years old called: "Wait until Dark", and everyone of our friends feet went up, when the guy grabbed that blind ladies ankle. That and Alfred Hitchcocks: "Psycho"! the shower scene! For years, I was always peeking out my shower curtain, still do, come to think of it! Its just the devil, trying to fear in all of us! Well, you wont see me paying money, ever to go see a scary movie, period! EVER! Waist of money, I could use towards shopping,on fun things, instead! Hollywood doesn't care about what goes to the Box Offices! Just how much their all going to make!

I think it has to do with the fact that Hollywood is located in America. I would like to see a movie or two where some other country is being destroyed by whatever. It would be different.

First, Hollywood thrives on the wierd and unlikely, largely because Hollywood knows it sells. Most major studios are dominated by left leaning leadership. They have a lock on brain washing America and much of the rest of the world into a mind set of guilt and hatred that they hope will result in the destruction of any sort of functional system of morality.

I did realized that but Hollywood is the one that hate America but America it is not about just buildings,roads,4 seasons,cars,vanity fair it is about real people with with feelings full of dreams and trying to survive int his world like everyone else int he earth...so Hollywood cares only about 1000 people making money about acting is all imagitnation but the truth is that we are destroying the world with real war and anger and selfish and following others freaks that hate the peace but they have the power to control people and make almost everybody think the same way they do, like Hittler, Napoleon,Neron,Fidel,The Lenny, Cleopatra,Stanley....and B....
We had been causing all the natural dissasters because technology make changes to the mother earth.
God alwais bless everybody not talking in general he bless one at time but we just have to ask for blessing in our lives...

Because. . .
America = Chuck Norris
because just like Chuck, America is l33t. They put some things with destructible intents in America and yet, America seems invincible..
Whatever you put on that beloved country, it survives..heck, even giant three legged robots died because of Tom Cruise's "powers" lawl.

Hollywood is far left on the political scale. They do not believe in patriotism. God will still bless America, and other countries who still follow him.

Jelousy...Those who can not create, enjoy destruction of others.
The visual and sound effects of things blown away and exploding are more dramatic than any consturctive thing. However people are notr going to enjoy looking at refuge camps in Palestine or a slum in Mumbai being destroyed.
