there is a religion/sect called Sikhism.
Followers are often termed as sardars or serds.
they have a religious onligation of keeping long hair called kesh.

all those who trim are called mona serds.

Punjabis is a far more generic term for anyone hailing from Punjab or has Punjabi as mother Tongue
