I am 3cm dilated at this point and all the way thinned out. My doctor stripped/swept my membranes at the last appt... does that mean I already lost my plug in order for her to do that?

i am not sure, but i am guessing that is a no, b/c the plug protects you from infection! i'm guessing that the "membranes" are in front of the plug, and that stripping them may help move the process along. I know that when you lose the plug, you may or may not know, and you may not even lose it until your water breaks! from my own experience............i did indeed know when i lost my plug..........i kept seeing A LOT of discharge about a week before i had my baby, and wasn't sure if it was the plug or not, but then on a tue. i saw a lot more gunk come out but streaked with red and i knew for sure then that is was the plug.........i read as much as possible on this................and then that night i started to feel crampy and went to the er wed night, and the dr checked me there to see if my water broke and he asked me "did your dr strip you membranes" and i had no idea what he was talking about, but no my dr did not................anyways, i had my son, thur morning!! so, i hope some of this info helps!!
good luck

yes, your mucus plug is the only membrane that is in the way of dilatation. So, that means you will be having a baby soon! GOOD LUCK!
