YOU CANNOT SPOT REDUCE! If you want a 6-pack, you have to diet, not increase sit-ups. If you want leaner arms, you have to diet, not do more curls. JUST EAT LESS AAAAND EXERCISE. If you lift weights, you will not get BIG AND BULKY overnight. It's not like you do a few reps and all of a sudden you're growing muscles out of everywhere. It takes TIME.
ARRGGG!!!
STOP GIVING CRAPPY ADVICE, PEOPLE!
and P.S. stop typing "I want to LOOSE weight." It's LOSE!!! ARRRGG!!

Bigjimmyguy, you're so clueless. Please post evidence that you can, in fact, spot reduce. Please.

First of all brainiac...you can spot reduce. If you increase weight workouts to any particular areas you can increase toning and weight loss to those areas. If you do areobic exercise you generally lose to the whole body. If you do crunches (not sit-ups)while you do aerobic exercise you will tone and lose more weight to the stomach area. Before YOU start giving crap advice...whether it be in english or sports and nutrition why dont you make sure YOU know what you're talking about.

Well if it doesn't work in a week it just can't be working, right?. So many folks now days are looking for that immediate solution, so if they are loose around the belly the want to lose some weight but want it gone with a quick fix. Not going to happen and so we have a a multi billion dollar industry telling folks how to do such and such and all they really have to do is stop over eating and get up and away from the tv/computer and go for a long walk...and speaking of which bye have to go on a hike ;-)

Well your gonna get some crappy answers because your attitude in the question is crappy, but the infamous "how to lose weight" question has been and always will be asked because people want to know exactly what works, whats the easiest and people feel more reassured when they have a plan spelled out telling the exactly what to do, rather than, "oh just diet and exercise" people want details they want to be told "if you eat this food or do that exercise this will be the result"
As for people spelling lose.... loose ... you got me there...i don't know ... i guess if your not paying attention its like spelling desert or dessert, half the people didn't know they were spelled differently much less which one means which "

Good advise from an obvious informed person.
I've been telling people for years that they want to lose FAT not WEIGHT. Look in the mirror not at the scale.
People will try anything except diet and exercise.....when will they learn. When will our government post a warning on all fast food restaurants that warn of heart disease, strokes and cancer from this crap.

OK OK calm down. :-) I agree a lot of people are clueless, could be because we do not need to "loose" weight and so do not research into the topic.
But yes you are right in that people clueless about excising and weight loss, like me should not give advice on the topic.

Most people know the basics of losing weight. They just want to pretend that they don't because if they did know, they wouldn't have an excuse to hit McDonalds four times a week.

I've lost 5 kilos in my first week. It's my 10th day and I have included salad with some protein (eg. egg/ lean chicken) as you suggested. After 4 years of trying, the fat is finally coming off. It truly feels like magic!
Get started today!

I think most people are clueless because A) they are uneducated, B) they are lazy and C) they aren't aware of proper eating habits.
