It's because when they talk and talk and talk every day to pull the troops out it's politics to win office in Nov. and 2008. They know if Bush pulls out and Iraq fails and all Iraqi's die then they will look good and Bush bad. But they can't vote for us to pull out because then that would expose their lies and rhetoric. They make me feel very ill. Politics ahead of victory. They couldn't even give good talks about the good things that happened this week. Neither could any left wing media.

One reason is the same as why the "war-mongering" Republican senators back the war: money. It doesn't matter what war we're talking about, somebody somewhere is making a LOT of money from it, and they're more than happy to bankroll campaigns for those who let them keep on.
Another reason is that you can't come out against the war in the Fascist atmosphere that's been fomented, because you'll be accused of so many things you'll be too busy defending yourself against to get the truth out:
You don't support the troops
You're not "patriotic" because you're not supporting the President in a time of war
You're giving aid and comfort to the enemy
Only cowards "cut and run"
We're fighting them over there so we won't have to fight them over here
Etc. etc.
Plus, the Pentagon released a booklet yesterday full of responses to criticisms of the war, and sent it to both Democrats and Republicans. The Associated Press obtained a copy and reported on it yesterday.

Because withdrawing now would be disasterous considering the Iraqis haven't really shown that they can function on their own. The senators would love for the troops to come home, but in order to protect the Iraqi government that we helped create we need to stay. "Democratic senators?" I thought the democrats were the ones calling for withdrawl. And the Republicans are in power.

Because they are the masters at waffling and they know what the majority of America wants to WIN not lose. If they voted to pull the troops out - they would lose their political appointments faster than Clinton picks up girlfriends.

There were probably some great riders attached to the bill- more money for their bullsh*t socialist programs, less money for education, perhaps a line about five year olds being given the right to tell their parents to f*ck off when told to go to bed, some more cash for needless tunnels and bridges in WV- who knows what all was on there to distract them?

96-3 defeated a movement to withdraw US troops from Iraq. I wonder who those 3 people were.

Because once others have died, and sacrificed for a cause. It would be an insult to the families of the fallen shoulders. I guess it would be bad to pull out now. I think the war should have been thought out more.

You either do not understand the term "war-mongering" or you have not understood the last almost 4 years of American foreign policy.

I trust my democratic leaders. If they did that, and I say big IF, then I am sure there is a valid reason that you are too simplistic to understand.
