RIGHT..... he took care of you when you were unable to do things for yourself... you wouldn't be a very good child if you weren't willing to care for the one that always cared for you!
Besides I think that is what is wrong w/ the majority of people these days...(no necessarily speaking of you)... as parents and relatives get older, "we" don't have time for them, "put 'em in a home, I don't have time, I do'nt want to have time," The country was built on there hardwork and sweat, yet we are quick to take them from what they know and send them else where for care.
When infact, the only care they want is the caring love and support of their family!
God will reward you honey... take care of your father!

As a woman whose father has a serious disability, someone who has served as his caretaker when he has been bed-ridden, I say--absolutely!
Any person, but especially one's parent, should be treated with dignity and compassion. In dressing him, you are showing him compassion. By doing so in a way that protects his sense of modesty as much as possible, you are helping him to retain his dignity.
So, avert your eyes as much as possible from any part of his body he might feel shame about, show no disgust or discomfort either through your actions or your words, and thank him for being patient with your clumsiness.

of course, for his modesty and dignity, you might want to put a towel over sensitive areas or learn to dress him while you are holding him up from the back so he is not embarrased.
Here is an informative website concerning itself with caring for elderly/ill parents:

If he is unable to dress himself, somebody has to do it. Better you than a stranger. Your father probably had to dress you a few times before you could do it yourself, right?

Who else would do it if not you?
Think of it as role reversal. He dressed you when you were a child & not that he is not able to dress himself , he is the child & you are dressing him.
If it distresses you then hire a carer.
