Divorce can be expensive and it is very time consuming , but if the law was that after 10 years of marriage, you had the option to stay in the marriage or to divorce without the hassle of going through all of the court procedures, life would be a little less stressful.

I always thought yearly renewable contracts would be better. I have to disagree with you about the hassle and expense. I was married for 18 years. The divorce cost me less than $500 and was complete in 6 mos. No big deal.

Nope.. Simply because marriages , based on marital vows are supposed to be for forever. As for stress - most people know with marriage comes more stress, and you have to work at any relationship. Typically you'd think I would agree because I have been seperated for almost 6 yrs because I cant afford a divorce (and he wont help), and if that was a law in just 4 more years I could get the divorce. But I look at it this way, you play you pay. It's life.I do think its crazy how expensive it can be to divorce, especially when there's a good reason for it. But despite all that, when I got married I felt it was going to be forever, sometimes thats not the case, and despite one failed marriage, if i ever do it again - i will be going in with the intention of it being forever, so therefor i dont need to think of an "easy way out" in the future, which is just what a law like that would be

I personally think that if a couple gets married, they shouldn't be able to get a divorce. I've been through two of them with my mom and they're not fun...

No i dont think so... If you choose to divorce it should have to be done and you should have to pay for it as you paid to get married so you have to pay to get out of it! Only fair! If you choose it you should have to pay for it and deal with the consequences that choice makes!
