No you can get the tips in any color, but some people don't consider that a french manicure. I get blue's and pinks on my tips a lot even had black once, and I liked it, it's more of personal preference I think.
I would a little bit of nail over the tip of your finger looks best with this kind of manicure

no, you can use every colour you want.I use different colours
